Creating Challenge Day 36--Thumbnail Sketching

This month's Sketchbook Challenge theme is Sweets! Sugar and Spice and everything nice. When approaching a sketchbook challenge, I often enjoy thumbnail sketching about the theme. This is a technique I learned from Junelle Jacobsen. I simply draw a grid on my sketchbook paper, then fill the individual squares with quick sketches of potential ideas. When I do this, I often am inspired to do an art journal page or a larger piece of artwork using one of my ideas or blending several ideas together.
