Creating Challenge Day 23--Gesso!

Today my brain went crazy imagining creative projects, so I've prepared a few different surfaces with gesso. Gesso is one of my favorite and most frequently utilized art supplies. A coat of it can make almost any surface ready for paint. Here I've layered a coat of it onto a couple canvases, some art journal pages, and the front of a note card:

While I appreciate gesso for its ability to prepare a surface for painting, I like it even more for another quality. Spreading gesso onto surfaces is like finger painting in its purest form: no care for design; simply the sheer bliss of spreading liquid over a surface with my hands. It requires no thought, therefore I can simply be in the moment and enjoy!
